Dr. Homaira Behsudi - Vice President

Dr. Homaira Behsudi, a family physician in Vienna, Va. is the vice president of Afghan-American Women’s Association.

At the local level she has worked closely with Afghan Medical Professionals Association of America, serving as President. During her tenure as a member of liaison committee she represented AMPAA at the non-governmental organization conference on the reconstruction of Afghanistan in Tokyo, Japan in 2001. She also traveled to Afghanistan with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to help assess the country’s public health clinics in 2002. Her project for maternal and child health clinics in Afghanistan has drawn funds to the association. Dr. Behsudi received the AMPAA’s Achievement Award for her hard work as member.

She is board certified by the American Academy of Family Physicians. Dr. Behsudi completed her residency in family practice at Bethesda Hospital in Cincinnati Ohio. She earned her Master of Public Health degree in 2001 from Johns Hopkins University. She has a special interest in international health. She has served Vienna community as a physician for the past ten years.

She serves on the staff at INOVA Fairfax and Fair Oaks hospitals. She is also a member of the Fairfax County Medical Society, the American Academy of Family Physicians and serves on Fairfax County Medical Reserve Corps. Dr. Behsudi is an assistant clinical professor of health care science at the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Science.

Dr. Homaira Behsudi is married and mother of two children. She resides in Vienna, enjoys tennis and spending time with family and friends.
